Fractional Director of AI, Systems & Marketing

Bring me the business problem. I bring the department.

I give owner-led businesses executive-level capacity without a full-time executive hire. I diagnose what is actually wrong, direct an AI-native team, build and implement the solution, and verify that it works.

Tell me what is stuck, costing money, or taking too much of your attention.

The title, translated

What does “fractional director” mean?

You hire senior ownership of a problem without adding a full-time executive position. I work beside the owner as an independent contractor, take responsibility for a defined set of outcomes, and bring the systems and production capacity needed to finish the work.

Fractional

Executive-level capacity for the scope and time your business actually needs.

Director

I diagnose, prioritize, direct, make, and verify—not merely advise.

AI, Systems & Marketing

AI multiplies the work, systems make it durable, and marketing connects it to demand and revenue.

Start with the thing that is bothering you

Problems worth bringing me.

You do not need to know which software, model, campaign, or contractor you need. That diagnosis is part of the job.

01

“We need more qualified demand.”

I connect the evidence, the offer, the message, and the machinery that turns attention into real opportunities.

02

“Our systems do not talk to each other.”

I map the work, repair the handoffs, and build automation around the way your people actually operate.

03

“We know AI matters. We do not know what to implement.”

I separate useful leverage from theater, then put the right tools into a controlled, human-approved workflow.

04

“Important work keeps stalling between people.”

I reduce ambiguity, surface the real decision, and carry approved work across the finish line.

One prompt becomes finished work

The owner brings the problem. I bring the operating loop.

Not an AI consultant who leaves you with recommendations. Not an agency that makes you manage five specialists. One person stays responsible for the outcome.

Diagnose

Read the evidence, talk to the people, and find the problem beneath the request.

Prioritize

Choose the smallest useful move, name the risks, and recommend a default.

Build

Direct specialist agents and tools across research, code, content, data, and design.

Implement

Put the approved work into the real business—not a slide deck or a someday list.

Verify

Check the actual delivery, endpoint, workflow, or result before calling it finished.

The boundary is simple: I absorb the ambiguity and coordination. You keep the decisions that require your authority, taste, relationships, or risk judgment.

Selected work

The website is sometimes the output. It is never the whole job.

The work crosses strategy, operations, software, marketing, communication, and the unglamorous connective tissue that makes all of it useful.

Ways to work together

Ongoing ownership or a focused build.

The model flexes to the problem. The scope, decision rights, and success condition are clear before substantial work begins.

Hire me, and you get me plus the entire operating environment I built around myself.

I am Jon Claude Haines, based in Chester, Connecticut. I have spent my career making technology useful to humans, and the last chapter building a practical way for one accountable person to direct the capacity of a small AI-native department.

The models are not the product. My judgment, curiosity, relationships, taste, and willingness to stay with a problem until the real-world result is verified are the product. The machinery is the leverage.

The sensible questions

Before you bring me the problem.

Is a fractional director an employee?

No. I work as an independent contractor and provide senior operating capacity for an agreed scope. You get executive-level ownership without creating a full-time executive position.

Is this consulting or implementation?

Both, when the problem needs both. I investigate and recommend, but the work is not finished at the recommendation. Within the approved scope, I also build, implement, and verify.

Do you only do AI projects?

No. AI is a force multiplier, not a requirement or a religion. The right answer might be a workflow, a campaign, a database, a website, a repair, a difficult email, a human decision—or no new technology at all.

What does it cost?

Ongoing fractional direction is structured as a retainer. Larger builds and campaigns are scoped separately before the extra work begins. The first conversation is about the problem, the value of solving it, and whether this operating model fits.

Do you work onsite or remotely?

Both. I am based in Connecticut and can work onsite where the problem benefits from being in the room. Most analysis, production, implementation, and monitoring can run remotely.

Start with the real thing

What is bothering you in the business?

You do not need a brief. Tell me what is stuck, what keeps repeating, what is costing money, or what everyone agrees matters but nobody owns.
